in Asia are the real weak link in the rail connectivity. Their extension has actually decreased between 1996 and 2005, for the abandonment of many lines. In one part of Cambodia, for example, where war has destroyed the railway lines 50 years ago carrying passengers and freight between Bangkok and Phnom Penh, still trains running on rails bamboo craft.
